Gary Agena, MD

A Louisiana native, Dr. Agena received his Doctor of Medicine from LSU in New Orleans. From there he moved to Virginia for his specialty training in ObGyn.

During his four years in Virginia, Dr. Agena received numerous awards and accolades for his quality and compassionate care. After completing his residency at the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond, Dr. Agena returned to his home state to begin his practice. For 6 years, Dr. Agena practiced Obstetrics and Gynecology in Hammond Louisiana. While on staff at North Oaks Medical Center, he was three times awarded the North Oaks Champion award for excellence in patient care. He was also awarded a lectureship on the history of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

To continue to provide his patients with the most up to date care, Dr. Agena became certified and credentialed as a Da Vinci robotics surgeon. Within 12 months, his technical acumen gained the attention of the Intuitive surgical company.

He now proudly serves as a clinical proctor for surgeons who are being trained to use the Da Vinci surgical system.

Striving to provide his patients with the best possible care available, Dr. Agena opened a private office in Madisonville Louisiana in the summer of 2012. He continues to provide comprehensive care including routine and high-risk obstetrics as well as office-based and surgical gynecologic care. Beginning in the summer of 2012, Dr. Agena began providing hospital services from St. Tammany Hospital as well as Lakeview Regional Medical Center.

In his spare time, Dr. Agena enjoys spending time with his loving wife and their three children. He enjoys playing tennis, cooking, and learning foreign languages. An avid runner, Dr. Agena completed the Marine Corp Marathon in Washington, DC in 2008.
