Dr. Tim lived in Fairfax, Virginia as a child. He was raised by nutrition-oriented parents who took him to a homeopathic doctor when he was ill, where he was impressed by how quickly he healed and in a gentle and safe manner. That began his interest in all things homeopathy.
His undergraduate work earned him a Bachelor of Science in Biology. He worked as a certified nurse assistant before graduating from Bastyr University in 1997, an accredited naturopathic medical university. He then became licensed as a naturopathic physician in Washington State. He met his wife at Bastyr University and they subsequently set up a family practice in North Carolina for 16 years. There he specialized in treating children and people with gastrointestinal disorders and he focused on helping people with their mental/emotional well-being.
Dr. Tim now works at Naturopathic Health Center, PLLC. He specializes in natural family medicine. He particularly enjoys the profound improvement in helping those with mental and emotional challenges. He uses stress management, nutrition, herbal and homeopathic medicines for their safety and efficacy. He practices naturopathic medicine with his wife, Dr. Preeta Kuhlman.
He loves to dance salsa, ballroom and cha cha with his wife. He enjoys reading, hiking and writing poetry. He also plays the guitar.
Dr. Preeta was born in Zimbabwe, Africa. She was introduced to natural medicine when she was 5 years old by her grandfather, who introduced her to vegetables, fruits and herbals in his garden. He grew his own herbs to treat his wife, her grandmother, who had diabetes. Preeta’s mother was also a naturalist, treating her childhood maladies with Ayurvedic medicine, holistic medicine from India, instead of conventional medications.
She left Zimbabwe when she was 19 years of age to pursue her undergraduate at the University of Newcastle upon Tyne in England. She graduated in 1991 with a Bsc (Hons) in Physiological Sciences: physiology, biochemistry and genetics. Thereafter, she became interested in pursuing a medical degree. On her journey, she found Bastyr University, an accredited naturopathic medical school in Washington. She graduated in 1996 with a doctorate in naturopathy, ND and a license to practice naturopathic medicine.
While at Bastyr University, she met Tim Kuhlman, a fellow naturopathic physician, who became her friend and husband. They set up a family practice in North Carolina for the next 16 years. There Preeta used various modalities in her practice, including, naturopathic medicine, massage, craniosacral therapy and reiki. She also worked part-time as a massage school instructor. During those years she became an American citizen.
In 2014 they decided to move back to Washington to pursue primary care medicine. Currently Preeta practices at Naturopathic Health Center, PLLC. She sees people of all ages with any acute or chronic condition. She specializes in treating people with gastrointestinal disorders such as irritable bowel syndrome, inflammatory bowel disease, food sensitivities and gut infections. She also treats people with hormonal imbalances and pain conditions. Preeta is also a certified craniosacral therapist; she treats people with pain conditions, childhood trauma and adult trauma with her therapy.
On a personal level, she enjoys reading mystery novels and historical romance, writing short stories and poems, goes hiking regularly in the woods, is attempting to play the Irish flute and violin and enjoys ballroom and Latin dancing with her husband.
