Tyler’s own Hope Short, MD, specializes in family medicine in protecting what’s most important to you. She has been voted Bscene””s Magazine Best of 2012 for Tyler, and has received their awards for five years running.
Dr. Short is a native of Tyler, graduating from Robert E. Lee High School before attending Texas Christian University for her bachelor’s and UT Tyler for her master’s degree. She received her medical degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio in 1996.
Dr. Short then completed her residency in family practice at John Peter Smith Hospital in Ft. Worth. Dr. Short has been practicing in Tyler for 12 years and has a private practice where she handles everything from complete physicals to childcare, colposcopies, pap smears and minor skin procedures. She is a member of the Texas and American Medical Associations, the Smith County Medical Society, and the American Academy of Family Physicians.
Active in the community, Dr. Short is a member of Marvin United Methodist Church and has been involved with the Cattle Barons’ Gala, the Junior League of Tyler, the Symphony League and the Smith County Republican Party. Dr. Short serves on the ETMC Cancer Committee, and enjoys tennis, running, snow skiing and scuba diving.
