Doris Gonzalez is a dual certified Adult Gerontology Nurse Practitioner. She originally attended
Collin College earning her Associates Degree in nursing, graduating with honors. Doris worked
as a Registered Nurse for 12 years in various disciplines including medical surgical and
telemetry nursing, as well as home health and special needs nursing. During this time, she also
served as the Director of Nursing in a specialized treatment center for autism before pursing
higher academic goals. She attended the University of Texas at Arlington where she received her
Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing graduating Summa Cum Laude, and then went on to also
receive her Master of Science in Nursing Adult Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner
Degree in 2020. She is board certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC)
and also Certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP).
Doris fully
believes that optimal healthcare encompasses providing compassionate and expert care while
treating the whole person and integrates both holistic and medical components together to
facilitate optimized health.
Doris maintains active memberships in several professional organizations including Texas Nurse
Practitioners, American Association of Nurse Practitioners, and American Nurses Association.
Doris and her family reside in Wylie. In her free time, Doris enjoys spending time with her
husband and family, including her fur family hiking in the beautiful Colorado Rocky Mountains,
DIY projects, reading, gardening, and oil painting. She also loves watching movies, and one of
her favorite quotes is: “All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us”.
