Richard Harkaway, MD

Dr. Richard C. Harkaway received his Bachelor””s Degree from The Johns Hopkins University in 1985, completing a dual major program in Biology and English while earning a place in the Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society. He left Baltimore to attend medical school at the University of Pennsylvania from which he graduated in 1989 with membership in the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. He was invited to remain at The Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania where he did his residency in urology under the direction of Dr. Alan Wein, and completed his training in 1995. He has been an attending urologist at the Albert Einstein Medical Center ever since he completed his residency.

During his time at Albert Einstein, Dr. Harkaway has developed special interests within the field of urology to include the treatment of benign and malignant diseases of the prostate, erectile dysfunction, voiding dysfunction, and urinary incontinence. He has led the department in terms of academic research with more than 40 peer reviewed publications and an additional 60 academic abstracts. He has lectured both nationally and internationally on BPH and is a sought after speaker and moderator for high-level meetings in urology on this topic.

He is a nationally recognized expert in the treatment of benign prostate disease and offers his patients options including medical therapy and multiple forms of minimally invasive therapy.
