Meet Dr. Lynch
Board-certified general surgeon Dr. Matthew Lynch is the founder and medical director of Lynch Vein & Aesthetics. He is board certified through the American Board of Surgery. Dr. Lynch is also proud to be a distinguished fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He has presented multiple research papers, published articles, authored book chapters, and taught surgical skills as an instructor for The University of Arizona College of Medicine in Phoenix, AZ. Dr. Lynch is a distinguished general surgeon with experience in vein surgery, aesthetic surgery, laser skin treatments, and laser-assisted incision-free liposuction. Today, he dedicates his career to vein and aesthetic medicine by offering patients advanced vein treatments, aesthetic injectables, laser skin treatments, and laser-assisted incision-free liposuction at his private Peoria, AZ practice.
Skills and Specialties
With a varied background in many different specialties throughout his career, Dr. Lynch has many skills that cross several areas of medicine. In his career, Dr. Lynch has:
• Led and participated in a thriving general surgery practice (performed more than 5,000 surgeries, endoscopies, colonoscopies, esophagogastroduodenoscopies, and 150 endovenous ablations)
• Recruited to spearhead the transition of Banner Medical Center from a Level IV to a Level III trauma center
• Instructed Advanced Trauma Life Support® (ATLS) at the American College of Surgeons
• Taught laparoscopic skills as an instructor at The University of Arizona College of Medicine
• Served as a president of the medical staff, chair of surgery, and as a member of the executive and innovation/technology committees
• Concurrently served as a preceptor for general surgery resident rotations within the University of Wisconsin Family Medicine Residency Program and the Physician Assistant Program
Education and Training
After he attended the University of Wisconsin for biochemistry, he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree. Dr. Lynch continued his education to earn a doctor of medicine degree from the University of Wisconsin Medical School in Madison, WI in 2002. He completed an integrated general surgery residency in Chicago, IL at Rush University – John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County from 2002 – 2007. In this residency experienced, Dr. Lynch rotated between multiple surgical services at RUMC, Cook County Hospital (CCH), and Rush North Shore Hospital. His responsibilities at RUMC encompassed multiple general surgery services, including colorectal surgery with Dr. Theodore Saclarides, endocrine surgery with Dr. Richard Prinz, hernia surgery with Dr. Keith Millikan, hepatobiliary, and advanced foregut surgery with Dr. Alexander Doolas. He also participated in extensive ICU care for critically ill post-operative patients.
In this residency, Dr. Lynch’s responsibilities encompassed all aspects of general surgical care, including thoracic, oncology, breast, and endocrine surgery. He worked closely with Drs. Phil Donahue and Harry Richter. Dr. Lynch served in CCH’s very busy trauma center, which involved extensive emergency trauma surgery for penetrating and blunt traumatic injuries. His work at Rush North Shore Hospital included an understudy with Dr. Jose Velasco to gain exposure to community general surgery, a wide range of general surgical procedures, and a diverse population of patients.
