Gregory Thompson, DO, is the chief medical officer at Southeastern Institute for Restorative Medicine, where he specializes in family medicine, neuromuscular medicine, and medical aesthetics. Located in Dothan, Alabama, he founded the anti-aging medical practice in 2017 after a 30-year career serving as a physician and health educator.
After earning his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine at the University of New England, College of Osteopathic Medicine in Biddeford, Maine, Dr. Thompson went on to complete his internship and residency in family medicine at Waterville Osteopathic Hospital in Waterville, Maine. He subsequently served as an emergency room physician and ran a successful family practice before moving to the Greater Portland area in Maine where he combined his knowledge and skills in traditional medicine and surgery with osteopathic manipulation, homeopathic remedies, and functional medicine to help his patients achieve health and wellness.
While on his journey to find a new approach to health and healing, Dr. Thompson turned his attention to the next generation of physicians and taught medical students in Tennessee and Alabama for 10 years while continuing to treat patients as a board-certified family medicine practitioner.
Early in his career, Dr. Thompson observed that modern medicine was failing far too many patients. Doctors were prescribing medications to treat the effects of the disease rather than addressing the underlying cause. Resolving to find a new approach to healing, Dr. Thompson has found himself at the forefront of the rapidly evolving science of regenerative and aesthetic anti-aging medicine that serves as his inspiration for opening Southeastern Institute for Restorative Medicine.
Dr. Thompson welcomes new and existing patients to experience the undivided focus he provides during consultations and his attention to detail that delivers exceptional results.
