Dr. Shannon received his undergraduate degree from the University of Indiana in Bloomington, Indiana. He completed medical school at Indiana University in Indianapolis, and his residency at the University of Texas in San Antonio.
He is a member of the Bexar County Medical Society, Texas Medical Association, Arthritis Foundation, and Century Club YMCA San Antonio. He also helped found the San Antonio Network of Physicians IPA, a practice of 340 physicians. Assisted with several other physicians, in providing the land for a hospital to be built in an area of need, where Southeast Baptist Hospital is today.
