Dr. John Zavaleta was born and raised in Brownsville, Texas. He graduated from the University of Texas in Austin with honors in Pharmacy. He practiced as a pharmacist for three years before deciding to go to medical school. He then graduated from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in 1981, followed by his residency at Baylor Medical Center in Dallas where he was Chief Resident specializing in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
Women’s health has been his passion since he began his practice in 1985. He believes it is important that his patients have the quality of life they deserve. He is a Diplomat of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, a Fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and the American Urogynecologic Society, and a member of the Society of Urodynamics, Female Pelvic Medicine, and Urogenital Reconstruction. He keeps current with the most advanced procedures in women’s healthcare. Dr. Zavaleta was recently chosen to be one of a handful of investigators across the country to do research for a major national company that produces biologic material for surgical procedures.
He has been a board-certified gynecologist for over 25 years and has accrued over 700 hours of continuing medical education in the area of incontinence, bladder dysfunction, and pelvic floor anatomy and rehabilitation.
Dr. Zavaleta believes his patients should feel comfortable in his office, and should feel free to express their concerns. It is his personal commitment to ensure his patients quality of life through superior care and the most current procedures and resources available today.
