Though she’s a Texas transplant, Dr. Amie Napier considers herself a native Texan. Born in Ogden, Utah, her family relocated to the Metroplex shortly after her birth and she’s been here since. She’s had a passion for providing care for as long as she can remember and always knew she wanted to practice medicine; in fact, she even considered becoming a veterinarian, but changed her mind in college and decided to pursue medicine. However, only after seeing her first delivery did she decide to specialize in obstetrics and gynecology.
Dr. Napier is certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, with specialties including minimally invasive and robotic surgery, high-risk obstetrics, fertility and general gynecology.
She joined the staff of Advanced Women’s Healthcare in 2000. Working with patients and committing to their long-term health and well-being are what she’s most passionate about: “I love to take care of women and help make their lives better,” she said. “Sometimes, something as simple as lending an ear makes all the difference to those in my care or, in other cases, it’s as complex as delivering their high-risk baby or performing a robotic surgery. Every day I get to make positive differences in people’s lives.”
Dr. Napier attended the University of Texas Health & Science Center in San Antonio, Texas, receiving her medical degree in 1996 following her bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M. She served as a resident of the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School, and Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas, Texas, from 1996 through 2000 where she served as chief resident.
She’s married to Becket, and they have three children: Hannah, Madeline and Drew. Free time is spent skiing, watching Cowboys football games, of course, and during summer, they like to escape to New Mexico.
“Dallas is a great place to live with great people and great world-class opportunities; and it has easy access to the best of everything, including healthcare,” she says.
Dr. Heidi Harms was inspired by her grandfather to study medicine, who was a physician that she thought the world of and aspired to be like. Having grown up in Great Falls, Montana, Dr. Harms came south to Texas to study at Baylor University in Waco where she worked in molecular biology and cancer research for several years prior to moving on to attend the University of New Mexico School of Medicine. Upon completion of her coursework, she returned to Texas for her residency at Parkland Memorial Hospital where she served as a chief resident in her final year.
She enjoys all areas of OB/GYN, including adolescent gynecology, contraception management, infertility, obstetrics, pelvic surgery, urogynecology and menopausal management.
Board certified in obstetrics and gynecology by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, she joined Advanced Women’s Healthcare in 2005.
Having practiced for more than ten years, she is dedicated to providing gentle and compassionate care to her patients in all stages of their lives, and she enjoys all areas of OB/GYN, including adolescent gynecology, contraception management, infertility, obstetrics, pelvic surgery, urogynecology and menopausal management.
A member of Irving Bible Church, Dr. Harms also spends her free time with her husband, two sons and daughter, and she’s also recently taken up tennis so she can keep up with her sons, who are members of her community’s junior tennis league. And, Montana continues to hold a special place in her heart. She and her family return each summer to vacation in the Rocky Mountains for boating, skiing and spending quality time with the family.
As for the greater Irving metro area, she’s particularly fond of the culture, diversity and spirituality that the Metroplex has become known for and is proud to call her adopted city home.
A native Canadian, Dr. Amy Sigman originated from Montreal when she was 9 years old and spent her youth in the greater Dallas area. Following in her father’s, Dr. Gerald Sigman, footsteps, she became an obstetrician and gynecologist after she saw the positive impact he had on the lives of thousands throughout his career in medicine. Because of his influence and her own experiences, she’s committed to upholding his legacy by continuing to care for patients with compassion and excellence in medical care throughout her career.
Now a proud U.S. citizen, Dr. Sigman had the honor of attending the Ivy League’s University of Pennsylvania and completed her study of medicine at the University of Texas’ Southwestern Medical School. She was a resident at Parkland Memorial Hospital.
In private practice since 1999, she was the first female doctor to practice at Medical City, now an all-female physicians practice. She is proud of the work of her and her partners, and she feels they stand out in the community because they continue to be at the forefront of exciting improvements in the field of medicine and specifically gynecologic procedures to improve female health.
About her own experiences at Medical City, she said: “I love the continuity of care that is so central to the field of obstetrics and gynecology. I have patients that started with me when they were teenagers and now are having babies of their own, and other patients that had babies when I was having my own. It is the sharing of these life experiences in the setting of providing compassionate medical care that really inspired me, and I look forward to meeting new patients and growing older together, as well.”
A board-certified obstetrician and gynecologist, Sigman divides her time between healthy, normal pregnancies and complicated operative deliveries, and she is particularly interested in minimally invasive surgeries including robotics and hysteroscopy.
Dr. Sigman has been featured in D Magazine as one of the best doctors in Dallas on numerous occasions, an honor among itself, but she also enjoys the privilege of spending time with her husband and two girls. She has a deep passion for music that’s reflected in her love of the piano (she recently held her first recital in nearly 20 years), as well as cooking and gardening.
Regarding serving the greater Dallas area, “We have a varied mix of patient populations and I love the fact that our patients comes to see us for generations,” she said. “In other words, even as the communities change around us, the same patients and families continue to stay with the practice.”
Dr. Michelle Heintges is a board-certified obstetrician/gynecologist by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. She grew up in Hartshorne, Oklahoma and is a graduate of the University of Oklahoma.
Her father’s long illness led her to medicine, and she subsequently moved to Dallas and graduated from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School. Following medical school graduation, Dr. Heintges entered her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the prestigious Parkland Hospital, where she served as one of the Chief Residents in her final year. She has been in private practice at Medical City Dallas since 2003. Dr. Heintges’ has a special interest in pelvic floor reconstruction, menopause and adolescent medicine.
In her free time, Dr. Heintges enjoys spending time with her husband, Paul (University of Texas graduate), and her daughters, Bella and Zoe. She loves college football (especially the Sooners). She and Paul sit on opposite sides of the field for the Texas vs. OU game. Her family also loves doing anything outdoors.
