Dr. Ashley Kerekes is dedicated to continuing the tradition of excellence and attention to detail that Carolina Plastic Surgery is known for. She is proud to offer the latest, most advanced and innovative procedures in plastic surgery available. Specializing in surgeries of the breast – as well as cosmetic and reconstructive procedures of the face and body – places our practice in a special league.

Education and Training

Dr Kerekes is a native of West Virginia and completed medical school at West Virginia University. In medical school, she discovered her love for plastic surgery and from there, she matched into a coveted 6-year integrated Plastic Surgery Residency at the University of Kentucky. During residency she won multiple teaching awards and was also involved in research. Upon graduating from the University of Kentucky, she then went on to serve the Kentucky community by joining Hardin Memorial Hospital. Here, she started the Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery program and served as Medical Director for five years. She was an integral member of the Comprehensive Breast Cancer team and won the Highest Overall Patient Experience Award for the organization in 2019 and 2020.

Board Certification

Dr. Kerekes is board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, which means she has met rigorous requirements to become board certified. She also maintains her certification by voluntarily participating in activities which assess her knowledge, and ensure that she stays up with the latest techniques and innovations in the specialty.

Kristen Russell, APRN

Kristen specializes in skin care education, neurotoxin treatments (Botox & Dysport), dermal fillers, sclerotherapy, and lasers to treat a variety of conditions. In addition to non-surgical rejuvenation, she provides pre and post-operative care for plastic surgery patients and holds a special place in her heart for breast cancer patients

Education and Training

Kristen received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from McKendree University in Lebanon, Illinois, and a Master of Science in Nursing from Frontier Nursing University in Hyden, Kentucky. Kristen is a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners and the International Society of Plastic and Aesthetic Nurses. Kristen truly sets herself apart with her years of side-by-side training with Dr. Kerekes and has further distinguished herself as a Certified Plastic Surgery Nurse.

Certification

Kristen is a Certified Plastic Surgery Nurse (CSPN), which means she has passed an extensive exam after meeting the following application requirements:

currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the United States, its territories or Canada, holding a current full and unrestricted license.
a minimum of two (2) years of plastic surgical nursing experience as a registered nurse in a general staff, administrative, teaching, or research capacity for at least three (3) years prior to application, and
at least 1,000 practice hours in plastic surgical nursing during two (2) of the preceding three (3) years.
currently working in the field of plastic surgical nursing and in collaboration with a board-certified plastic surgeon who holds a current full and unrestricted license.
