Hugh Melnick , MD

Hugh D. Melnick, M.D. is a reproductive endocrinologist who has been treating patients with thyroid and fertility problems since 1976. He is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and Temple University School of Medicine and completed post graduate training at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City.

In 1983, Dr. Melnick founded Advanced Fertility Services, which was the first outpatient In Vitro Fertilization center in New York City. He is the author of the PREGNANCY PRESCRIPTION which is a popular guide for couples having difficulties having a baby.

During his many years of practice, Dr. Melnick has developed a clinical approach to treating patients with Hypothyroidism which is totally different from that of the TSH driven endocrinologists. He strongly believes that Hypothyroidism is a condition that is best diagnosed and treated clinically and treated with natural prescription thyroid medications, basing dosage on the patient’s symptoms rather than on the results of their TSH levels.

His passion is helping people suffering with Hypothyroidism, which is either undiagnosed or inadequately treated, rid themselves of the debilitating symptoms that prevent them from leading productive, healthy and joyful lives.
