Dr. Joseph T. Stubbs is a graduate of the Medical College of Georgia, completed his residency training in obstetrics and gynecology at Memorial Health University Medical Center and attended Emory University for subspecialty fellowship training where he completed two fellowships in advanced gynecologic surgery: the first in Pelvic Surgery through the division of Gynecologic Oncology and the second in Urogynecology/Pelvic Reconstructive Surgery through the division of Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery.

After his fellowships, Dr. Stubbs returned to Savannah to open the first and only fully-dedicated urogynecologic center in the region. Dr. Stubbs was a Clinical Assistant Professor at Mercer University School of Medicine and served on the faculty at South College. He has taught advanced gynecologic/urogynecologic surgery on both a local and national level and has worked as a consultant for various medical companies in the research and development of new and innovative devices for female pelvic floor dysfunction.

In 2008, Dr. Stubbs was instrumental in bringing the da Vinci Robotic Surgical System to Savannah and has performed more da Vinci Robotic urogynecologic surgeries than any other surgeon in the region. Moreover, Intuitive Surgical, the manufacture of the da Vinci Surgical System, selected Dr. Stubbs as a proctor to travel throughout the US to teach robotic surgery to other surgeons.

Dr. Stubbs, the region’s only double fellowship-trained, double board-certified urogynecologist, is among the first physicians in the nation to achieve board certification in the OB/GYN subspecialty Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery, also known as Urogynecology. Dr. Stubbs was the first surgeon in the region to offer da Vinci Robotic surgery and remains the only surgeon in the region performing robotic urogynecologic surgery.
