Terri Jordan, PA

Terri Jordan retired from the US Army as a Major and Chief of Emergency Medicine at Ft. Benning, GA’s Martin Army Hospital after 31 years of service, on December 31, 2016 at Ft. Benning, GA Terri Goodman Jordan was born and raised in Dundalk, to William R. and Carolyn J. Goodman of Belclare Road.

Terri enlisted in the US Army on November 29, 1985. She completed basic training at Ft. McClellan AL, and Advanced Individual Training as a Combat Medic at Ft. Sam Houston, TX.

She then went on to complete the Interservice Physician Assistant Program at Ft. Sam Houston, TX (Phase 1) and Ft. Benning, GA (Phase 2)

Terri’s military education includes: Primary, Basic, and Advanced Noncommissioned Officer courses, Battle Staff Course, Interservice Physician Assistant Program, Officer Basic Course, Captain Career Course, Flight Surgeon Course, Emergency Medicine Master’s Program, Orthopedic PA Course, Tactical Combat Medical Care Course, and Basic Healthcare Administrator Course.

She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, a Bachelor’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies, a Master’s degree in Emergency Medicine Studies, and is currently enrolled in the PhD in Education.

Terri’s deployments include: Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Iraq, and the Balkans.

She has served multiple enlisted leadership positions from Squad Leader to Detachment First Sergeant;

Martin Army Hospital ER Ft. Benning, GA; Battalion PA and Senior Battalion PA 203rd Support Battalion, Battalion PA HHC 1BN 15th IN Regt, and Brigade Surgeon (RD J Combat), 3BCT, 3ID, Fort Benning, GA; Senior Brigade Aviation PA, 2nd Combat Aviation Brigade, Camp Humphreys, South Korea; Camp Humphreys Health Clinic OIC, South Korea, Senior PA Consultant, South Korea; Chief of Emergency Medicine, Fort Benning, GA. Terri was the first non-physician to be Benning’s Chief of Emergency Medicine.

Among her many awards and decorations are; The Bronze Star Medal, Legion of Merit, Meritorious Service Medal (3rd Award), Army Commendation Medal (5th Award), Army Achievement Medal (4th Award), Army Superior Unit Award, Good Conduct Medal (3rd Award),

Terri was awarded the Distinguished Member of the US Army Medical Department and was inducted into The Order of Military Merit.

Terri retired to the southwest Georgia area with her husband William Jordan, retired Command Sergeant Major who retired as the 35th Signal Brigade CSM, Ft. Gordon, GA, and their two children Gabrielle Gurrola and Jorge Gurrola. Terri and Will are the owners of Acute Care Emergence which is a Veteran locally owned and operated Urgent Care Clinic serving Columbus and the Chattahoochee Valley.

She was selected to be Evan Williams American-Made Hero in 2019 for her acts of service.

Terri’s clinic has been the leader in her area for COVID-19 testing and treatment.

To date, they have swabbed and treated over 35,000 people.

Her clinic has several programs that continually give back to the community. They have won the Ledger Inquirer Readers Choice for Best Urgent Care 2019 and 2020.

Joseph Kaplan, MD

Dr Joe Kaplan has been a physician since 1989 and completed his Emergency Medicine Residency at Brooke Army Medical Center in 1997. He has also has residency training in General Surgery and Orthopedic Surgery, as well as US Army Flight Surgeon and Hyperbaric Medicine. He has worked in rural Emergency Departments since 1991.

He served in the United States Army as a Field Surgeon, Emergency Medicine Physician, EMS Director Military Ambulance Units, Flight Surgeon for Aviation Medivac Squadrons, and Civilian Ambulance Services. He has been the Director of Emergency and Operational Medicine at Fort Benning Georgia and the Medical Director for the International Best Ranger Competition.

With expertise in environmental medicine, he was integrally involved in the initial heat stoke studies at Fort Benning.

After separating from the Army, served as and Professor of Emergency Medicine at Mercer Medical College in Macon Georgia. Then served as the Assistant Medical Director at Northeast Alabama Regional Medical Center and is currently the Director of Education for the Emergency Department there.

Dr Kaplan is part owner and the medical director for Acute Care Emergence.
