Dr. Shemesh graduated Magna Cum Laude from Rutgers College with highest distinction in Biochemistry and membership in Phi Beta Kappa. He then attended New York Medical College, followed by a residency at New York University Medical Center, where he completed a fellowship in pelvic surgery. He served as a clinical instructor at NYU Medical Center prior to moving to Tampa Florida. After having surgery for malignant melanoma in 1993, he became disenchanted with the conventional medicine model approach to understanding disease causes and prevention. After practicing obstetrics and gynecology for more than 10 years, he then turned his attention to holistic and integrative medicine, and expanded the universal holistic approaches of healing to men and children as well. He founded Mind Body Spirit Care, an integrative and Holistic Medical Center with offices in Carrollwood and South Tampa, providing a partnership with patients for individualized care using evidence based modalities for healing. Dr. Shemesh is Board Certified by the American Board of Integrative Holistic Medicine, the American Academy of Anti-Aging and Regenerative Medicine, and the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, with certification in medical acupuncture from Harvard Medical School. He is a contributing author to the medical textbook “Food and Nutrients in Disease Management”. He is married and has 4 wonderful children.
Dr. Shemesh focuses on identifying the root causes of health imbalance by testing for hormones, nutritional deficiencies, and other imbalances using cutting edge diagnostic and predictive functional measurements. He then creates individualized care plans that incorporate natural hormone replacement, diet and lifestyle modifications, physician grade supplements, stress coping tools, and eastern medicine practices including acupuncture, Ayurveda, medical qigong, therapeutic yoga, and mind-body-spirit connectivity, to support conventional medicine in addressing the healing of all interconnected aspects of our well-being – mind, body, and spirit.
Born and raised in Sarasota Florida, Michelle attended Western Carolina University where she obtained her BSN in nursing, graduated with Cum Laude and joined the Air Force Nurse Corps in 1986.
There, she began her love of women’s health as an OB nurse, manager, and educator.
In 1997, she graduated from Georgetown University with a Master’s in Nursing specializing in OB/GYN and Midwifery, dedicating her life to listening to women and ensuring that each of them had the education necessary to make decisions for their own individualized plan of care.
In 2001, she retired from the Air Force as a Major after 15 years, worked in Georgia, and returned to Florida in 2003 where she provided OB/GYN care to the New Port Richey/Tarpon Springs, Florida areas.
She also trained in Botox and facial fillers with extensive education and experience, providing over 1000 treatments to include eye brow lifting, restoring cheek volume, and her special favorite, restoring
lips to their prior natural appearance.
In 2011, after listening to patient complaints of fatigue, mood swings, weight gain, and hair loss, she became interested in bio-identical hormone therapy, thyroid management, and adrenal fatigue and joined Dr. Shemesh,
expanding her practice in integrative medicine to include natural hormone pellet therapy.
Michelle has become passionate about improving quality of life and preventing disease with the intent to enable men and women to feel vibrant on the inside as well as look great on the outside.
