Dr. Pena is a native of Miami, Florida, where she enjoyed her youth and excelled at dance, mainly ballet, folklore and jazz. It was in high school when she took her first anatomy class that she fell in love with the workings of the human body. Dr. Pena explained that she was amazed at how God made us and how everything works together. She quickly realized, right then and there, that her calling was to become a doctor.
It was while Dr. Pena attended the medical school at George Washington University in Washington, DC. That she decided OB/GYN was going to be her specialty. During rotations she saw firsthand the critical decisions that women had to make, some of them life altering. Dr. Pena felt that the field of women’s health would force her to really carry out her beliefs and philosophy about her passion for life.
