Ernesto Cardenas, MD

Dr. Ernesto Cardenas is a Board Certified Obstetrician Gynecologist practicing in Miami, Florida. Born in Colombia, he is fluent in Spanish, English, and Portuguese. He graduated from Florida State University and received his medical degree from Ponce School of Medicine. Dr. Cardenas commissioned as a military officer during medical school. His specialty training as an OB/GYN was conducted at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas.

Dr. Cardenas would go on to serve for 5 more years active duty at Ft Stewart, GA. He was promoted to OB/GYN Department Chair and was responsible for numerous improvements and innovative procedures at Winn Army Community Hospital. Prior to finishing his military commitment, Major Cardenas volunteered for deployment to Afghanistan as a trauma trained Battalion Surgeon with 10th Mountain Division, 3rd Brigade Combat Team.

After his serving his country, Dr. Cardenas returned to South Florida to join his colleagues from medical school at Bayshore Women’s Healthcare. In Miami, he has been active in public speaking on behalf of women’s health issues and appears regularly on Univision, Telemundo, CNN español, and several other media outlets. Many patients know him from his celebrity clients, but Dr. Cardenas prefers to be known for the excellent care he provides to all his patients.

Dr. Cardenas is certified in robotic surgery, specialized in vaginal reconstruction, and manages high risk obstetrics. He is committed to innovation, and the ability to provide the newest and safest effective treatment options for his patients
