Cathy completed training with SottoPelle in 2012 and has practiced hormone replacement with pellets for nearly 10 years. Even though she received her advanced bio-identical hormone certification through Worldlink Medical in 2018, Cathy continues to attend hormone/functional medicine conferences yearly, in addition to participating in monthly Journal Club discussions to keep up on the newest scientific studies.
“I do my best to listen to each individual patient and continue to listen to and adjust until the patient feels better. Patients are not just numbers. They are very individual human beings. No “formula” is going to treat everyone. It is my goal that each patient I come into contact with is listened to and treated to the best of my ability.”
In order to attend Colorado State University, Cathy relocated from Newport Beach, California to Fort Collins in 1981 and began her next adventure. After graduating with a BS in Natural Resources Recreation & Tourism, a BS in Biology, and a minor in Anatomy/Neurobiology, she attended Midwestern University in Downers Grove, IL, to obtain her bachelors in Physician Assistant Studies in 2000.
For 17 years, Cathy practiced in family/internal medicine with Dr. Arthur Sands until he retired. She loved what she did then, and she loved what came next – especially because she was able to combine her profession with her passion to travel. She has done medical volunteering in Malawi, Africa; the Nepal Himalayas; and the Dominican Republic. On top of all that, she volunteers for First Descents, a camp for young adult cancer survivors.
In her free time, Cathy enjoys running, hiking, biking, snowshoeing, cross country and telemark skiing, traveling, learning new things, and meeting new people. Through her work and her life experience, she has come to understand the importance of feeling good and having the energy to enjoy life, regardless of age.
