Kurt Papenfus, MD

Dr. Kurt Papenfus is a very experienced practitioner who enjoys working in the rural communities of Colorado, broadening his skills in family practice as well as emergency medicine.

Dr. Papenfus attended Colorado State University, where he majored in Zoology and minored in Statistics from 1976 to 1980. He then continued his education at the university, accepting a second degree in Physiology and Biophysics 1982. After the completion of his second degree, Kurt attended school at the University Of Colorado School Of Medicine where he graduated in 1986 and began to complete his internship and residency at St. Joseph Hospital in Denver, CO.

Dr. Papenfus has been involved in the Center for Disease Control, National Occupational Research Agenda, Oil and Gas Sector Council, and had been an Occupational Safety and Health Administration Advisory Council member. In addition to all of his many talents, Kurt was the doctor for the USA Climbing Team on Mt. Everest with the USA-Soviet-Chinese in 1990 and 1992. He can also be remembered as the doctor on staff for the movie “Cliffhanger” in which Sylvester Stallone played an important role. Dr. Kurt Papenfus enjoys spending his free-time with his wife Joann, two grown sons, Andrew and Stephan.
