My name is Dr. Bharat Kothakota (you can call me Doctor K), I’m a board-certified ER physician practicing here in Los Angeles and the new owner of Self Care LA, Montana Avenue’s boutique aesthetics medical spa! Several years ago, my wife said to me “can you learn how to do Botox?” So I learned, and I practiced…. a lot. On friends, on family, on whomever would let me come near them with a needle. That started a wonderful second career for me. Once a week, I would walk to my second job at this boutique medical spa on Montana Avenue in Santa Monica, and it was the highlight of my week. Frankly, it was a quiet escape from the ER, especially after the last couple of years with COVID-19. I loved the opportunity to display my artistry with injectable treatments, body contouring and their overall aesthetic goals. I am incredibly proud to share that after buying Self Care LA in October 2021, we completed an extensive renovation with a crisp, serene, and beautiful design! What makes us unique? As the medical director, I am actively evaluating and treating patients, along with my team of seasoned PAs. My first course of action was to evaluate what new services I wanted to bring to this practice.
