Dr. Owens was born in Little Rock, Arkansas and raised in Hot Springs, Arkansas. After high school she received a Bachelor of Science in Biology, graduating Cum Laude, from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. She completed her medical degree at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock. She completed an internship and her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences.
Dr. Owens is board certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetrics & Gynecology. She was an assistant professor of Obstetrics & Gynecology UAMS 2004-2009 where she received an APGO (Association of Professors of Gynecology) award for teaching resident physicians.
Dr. Owens has frequently been on the Best Doctors in America List as well as the Best OB/GYN Physicians lists in the Arkansas Times; About You and Soiree.
She enjoys both obstetric and gynecologic patients and has a special interest in breastfeeding support and breastfeeding challenges and menopause/perimenopausal symptoms.
She is skilled in management of abnormal Pap smears, heavy and painful periods, gynecological surgery—endometrial ablations and both minimally invasive and major gynecologic procedures including in-office surgeries.
When she is not caring for her patients, Dr. Owens enjoys cooking, working out, and spending time with her three children and her dogs.
