Sonja moved to Arizona in 2002 where she attended Arizona State University to complete the nursing program. She graduated in December of 2007 and immediately started working for Scottsdale Honor Healthcare hospital in the cardiac unit. Given the chronic condition of patients she had to take care of every day, Sonja developed a burning desire to be able to better help the community to reach a healthier lifestyle.
She continued her studies at Grand Canyon University where she completed the Family Nurse Practitioner program. She completed the Family Nurse Practitioner program in August of 2011.
Sonja is very thankful to be part of the BackFit family since 2015, and help to empower people to reach their optimal health.
Sonja married her husband Andrew in 2010. They live in Gilbert with their three children. Besides working at home and at BackFit, she enjoys hobbies such as: playing the piano, hiking, teaching, camping, and road trips.
Kaitlyn Spousta is a board-certified Physician Assistant. She obtained her Bachelor of Science in Health and Human Sciences from Loyola Marymount University, Los Angeles. With a special interest in the brain, Kaitlyn focused on the area of Neurology during her undergraduate training.
She then went on to receive her Master’s Degree in Physician Assistant Studies at Western University of Health Sciences. Kaitlyn completed training in various medical backgrounds including family medicine, cardiology, women’s health, pediatrics, general surgery, dermatology, and internal medicine.
Kaitlyn began her extensive training in San Diego, CA with Senta Clinic OtoNeurology in August 2019 where she was diagnosing and treating patients with vestibular disorders as well as managing general neurological conditions.
She has also worked in a high patient volume pain management practice, where she diagnosed and treated numerous pain conditions that include the neurological, musculoskeletal, rheumatologic, and gastrointestinal systems.
Kaitlyn’s medical background allows her to provide comprehensive yet quality medical care in different clinical settings.
In her free time, Kaitlyn enjoys being outdoors kayaking, paddleboarding, hiking, and exploring new places!
Nicole Rice is a board-certified Physician Assistant. Nicole is an East Valley native, who completed undergrad, graduate, and PA school at NAU. During her time at NAU, she taught Anatomy and Physiology lab, and spent five years doing muscle physiology and biomechanics research.
Nicole is trained in various medical specialties including sports medicine, orthopedics, family medicine, internal medicine, OBGYN, surgery, mental health, emergency medicine, and pediatrics.
In her spare time, Nicole can be found gardening, mountain biking, painting, and snowboarding.
